Essential Mac Compatible Computer Hardware

Mac Hard Drives

Few things are more essential to protecting your Mac than a solid data backup strategy. A fast and affordable

Portable MacBook Speakers

Wether you like your Apple computer speaker connectivity wired or wireless, Analog or Digital USB, Bluetooth or WiFi via AirPlay -- The choice in desktop and portable speaker systems is staggering. There's almost too many to choose from

SSD Mac Drives

For those with an absolute lust for speed and when time is money, the sheer speed of a solid-state flash memory drive utterly leaves the conventional spinning-platter hard drive in the dust. With so many MacBook and Macintosh desktop computer models including or offering a SSD drive option, you'll want an external SSD backup drive to match. SSD drive upgrades are also an awesome way to breathe new life and renewed performance into an aging Mac.

Apple Compatible Desktop Printers

Currently there's an amazing variety of multi-function all-in-one wireless printers (most now featuring Apple AirPrint printing as standard) for both Mac OSX and iOS Apple devices. Many are less than $100 and even feature color LCD touchscreen controls at amazingly low price points.

Battery Powered Mobile Printers

The demand for portability is uneasing as over three out of four Apple users choose a MacBook laptop as their primary computer. For some, mobile printing is essential, and there's more interest by manufacturers to deliver ever smaller, battery operated printers for use when traveling.

Best-Selling OSX Software

On both OSX and iOS, Apple's increasing marketshare has led to a very lucrative and growing market for Mac OSX software and iPhone/iPad apps.

Web Cameras For Mac

Although Apple iMac's, MacBooks and Cinema Display's have a built-in Apple iSight, other Macintosh systems like the Mac mini and Mac Pro do not. Regardless of which Apple computer you have, an external Apple compatible web camera can give you a better image, a quality microphone and more flexibility in webcam angles and placement than a built-in iSight can.

Portable MacBook Accessories

With three of every four Apple computers sold a member of the portable MacBook family, the need for appropriately designed and styled laptop computer gizmos is greater than ever. And manufacturers are scrambling to meed the portable Mac gizmo market with mobile and travel computing accessories to match.

The Worst And Best Mac Gizmos

As a long term Apple Mac computer technology nerd, I've bought some of the worst and best Macintosh hardware over the past three decades. Many computer hardware gizmos have served me well for years, still other gadgets have proved to be a cheap purchase decision, or briefly served their purpose for my Mac computing needs for a time but then became obsolete and ultimately disposable. When shopping for Mac gizmos, it helps to know if you're just looking for a cheap solution to explore what's possible, or if you're planning a technology purchase that's going to be an essential component of your Mac setup for years to come.

Some of Apple gadgets I've bought really stood the litmus test of quality and have served my needs well through several Mac computers and have become Mac peripherals that I still use and own to this day. Many others I've replaced or up-traded in the course of time. When and if any hardware failures occurred, I took advantage of the opportunity to find upgrades for my Mac that were cheaper and better and more fully featured as computer technologies and gizmos matured and evolved.

One notable example: Data backup and storage solutions like a flash memory solid-state drive upgrade like the drives recommended at this SSD site. When my MacBook's internal mechanical hard HDD drive failed, I swapped it with an Apple compatible SSD disk drive as a better replacement. WOW! The ultra-fast SSD made Mac OS boot, run and launch applications so extremely fast, I never have owned a Mac computer that doesn't have a solid-state internal drive since. The productivity improvements and Mac performance speed improvement literally added another year of usable service life to an otherwise tired and aging first-generation MacBook! With an ultra-fast ThunderBolt SSD drive for Mac data backup and TimeMachine use.

Another example: After I acquired a Apple iPod Touch running Apple's iOS - right when the iPhone and iPad tablet marketplace exploded, I wanted an AirPrint compatible inkjet or laser printer for both my MacBook laptop and iOS gadget printing needs. The highly affordable wireless HP AIO multifunction printer - scanner with AirPrint cost less than $80 and has served my Apple laptop and desktop and handheld iGadget needs quite well.

One other Mac hardware accessory I simply cannot live without are stereo speakers for my Mac laptop. My Air MacBook possesses such tiny built-in speakers I absolutely want something to really hear music and audio at decent volume - yet also want something compact, highly portable and hassle-free. So I've found a great USB Speaker for MacBook travel that is also everything I need at my desktop.

I could go on and on about other great Apple computing gear I use and love, but I'll save that for another Mac gadget blog post on Apple technology.
